This piece was composed for a special occasion, where the New European Ensemble would meet the UTOPA Baroque organ in Orgelpark, Amsterdam.
The concert hall itself was used as inspiration for the piece. The names of the composers and organists depicted around the hall were coded into pitch material making Namen an homage to these names. The musicians and the organ “read” through the coded names one by one as some of the performers move around the hall depending on where the respective name is written.
