I like to think of quotes as fragments of historical personalities. Phrases completely lacking any context, purpose and political weight. They are now harmless lines, empty pieces of wisdom that will be used to inspire, sell a product, and support someone’s argument.
For Quotes, I used sayings from fourteen very famous historical personalities. These phrases, used out of context, are an absolute chiché. However, I thought that there is still music in those words. I built a system which translated nouns, verbs, adjectives etc. into harmonies, arpeggios, melodies and morse code rhythms. These rhythms appear both musically and as light patterns in the concert hall and text pieces are projected on the walls.
